Phantom Lady
Kansas (Ella Raines) is secretary to businessman Scott Henderson, who's been incarcerated for his wife's murder. His alibi is a woman he met the evening of his wife's death, but she's not only missing, it appears as if she never existed in the first place. Kansas, convinced of his innocence, takes it upon herself to get to the bottom of things. Cliff March (Elisha Cook Jr.) is a drummer in a musical revue, and he saw Henderson with the missing woman, the "Phantom Lady", though he's been paid to deny it. Here we see Cliff with Kansas, done up as a flirty tart, feigning interest in Cliff as she actively seeks information that might lead to the whereabouts of the Phantom Lady.
